God is so good.
Over the past few years, my kidney function has continued to decline. Right now, it is at 4%. By God’s grace, I am still not experiencing severe symptoms. Aside from some fatigue and mild swelling, I feel well but with function this low, dialysis could have started at any time.
I was scheduled to have surgery on April 1st to place a port in preparation for dialysis.
But God had different plans.
I received the incredible news that my dear sister is a match and has been approved to be my kidney donor. What a blessing. What a miracle.
We are now scheduled for transplant surgery on May 21st. Hallelujah! Praise the Lord, no dialysis for me.

I’ve only been on the transplant list for 10 months. During that time, two people stepped forward to be tested. My dad was the first, traveling from St. Louis to Jacksonville and going through days of testing. My sister began her testing shortly after. I am beyond grateful to both of them for their love and willingness. It truly brings me to tears just thinking about it.
The surgery will take approximately 3 to 6 hours, followed by a 5-day hospital stay and about 30 days of recovery near the Mayo Clinic.
I ask for your continued prayers for both my sister and me as we prepare for surgery and walk through recovery together. My sister has always been my best friend, and now we will share this life-saving gift.
